Plant Medicine and Breath Work To Improve Sleep, And Lower Stress And Anxiety

When the world gets heavy

I found myself with high anxiety, stress, and poor sleep. I thought I got over these perils. However, it seems that the sorrows of the world got to me once more.

I realised I was doom scrolling, sleeping late IF I could even fall asleep without a struggle. Things got worse, with anxiety and sleep all over the place. So I decided it’s time to do something about it, apart from my regular valerian root herbal tea. Because even the lovely plants couldn’t help when my mind was bombarded with terrible news coming from a blue screen. I reached out to my wellbeing holistic coach, Iunieta Sandu, and we had a powerful meditation session where it became clear I needed to support the causes of the world with light and herbal medicine. And that healing and support was meant for myself as well.

I felt my mind lighter, my path clearer, which empowered me to start researching best plants and breathing techniques to get myself and others out of poor sleep, high anxiety and stress.

The protocol

I dove into PubMed research, revisited my herbalist books and courses, and let intuition lead where science left space. Weeks of careful, loving work late, a 30-day protocol for sleep, stress, and anxiety was born.

A few of weeks later, I published on my Instagram profile a 30-day protocol for sleep, stress, and anxiety. I put love, dedication, and hope into this 10-pages document, which I tried to make as simple as possible, yet informative and explicative.

I used plants that act on the hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenals axis (HPA) which help reduce cortisol and improve mood, and plants that work with the GABA receptors by calming the nervous system and inducing sleep:

  • Ashwagandha
  • Lemon Balm
  • St. John’s Wort
  • Valerian Root

Furthermore, I incorporated breathing techniques to enhance the plants’ action:

  • Alternate nostril breathing
  • Box breathing
  • Physiological sigh
  • 4-7-8 breathing

I really hope this will help you, and we go on this healing journey together.

You can access the free protocol here and I would love to hear your thoughts via Instagram.
